What Separates You From Other Advisors?
At Sportfishing Financial, we focus on a niche of clients who have common interests—fishing and financial success.
We’ve been providing financial and investing advice for more than 25 years, and offer our services through a client-friendly model that is independent and fee-based.
Sportfishing Financial also provides exclusive access to the investments of Dimensional Fund Advisors, an asset manager founded on the work of Nobel Prize-winning economists.
Finally, our business is straightforward and transparent: Unlike the confusing statements you’ll receive from a broker, our quarterly reports clearly lay out whether you’re making money or not.
What is a Fee-Based Advisor?
The financial industry is dominated by brokers, who sell investments in order to earn sales commissions. We believe this creates a conflict of interest: Is the broker choosing products that are in your best interest or that are more profitable for him?
As a fee-based advisor, we are paid directly by our clients based on their assets under management with us. That removes any conflict of interest. And it puts us “on the same side of the table” with you: As your investments appreciate, we benefit along with you.
However, should our clients request financial products that are only available with a sales commission, we will provide that product. In every case, we will clearly explain the fee involved.
What is Your Minimum Investment Amount?
We typically work with clients who have more than $250,000 to invest. However, we will do our best to help anyone who needs our assistance and is serious about investing success.
What is Your Investment Approach?
Most often, we use institutional funds from Dimensional Fund Advisors, a highly respected, low-cost asset management provider. In the relatively rare event that other products are required, we do have the ability to provide them as best suits each individual client.
Where Will My Money Be Kept?
Our clients’ funds are custodied with TD Ameritrade, one of the largest and most respected third-party custodians serving the Registered Investment Advisor industry. Clients enjoy full access to their account information 24 hours a day through the TD Ameritrade online platform.
How Do I Transfer My Account to Your Firm?
In most cases, all we need is a statement from your previous advisor. Our on-boarding department will handle all the details.
